Frequently asked questions

How often are fuel prices updated?

FuelTrack collects fuel prices regularly from official government data feeds. NSW, QLD, SA, TAS, and ACT prices update every 15 minutes. WA prices are locked daily via FuelWatch – the price shown is guaranteed until the next day, and tomorrow's locked price is shown after 2:30 PM AWST. VIC prices are published with a ~24-hour delay. Sources include NSW FuelCheck, Fuel Prices Queensland, the Victorian Fuel Price API, the SA Fuel Pricing Information Scheme, and WA FuelWatch.

How does FuelTrack ensure prices are accurate?

Every price is verified against each state's official government data feed before being included in rankings and averages. If a station's price hasn't been confirmed within the expected reporting window — 4 days for NSW, QLD, SA, TAS, and ACT, or 5 days for VIC and WA — it's held out of comparisons until a fresh update arrives. You can still see older prices on individual station pages, clearly marked with their age.

What fuel types does FuelTrack cover?

FuelTrack covers all major fuel types available in Australia including Unleaded 91 (U91), Unleaded 95 (U95), Unleaded 98 (U98), E10, Diesel, Premium Diesel, and LPG.

How do I find the cheapest fuel near me?

Open FuelTrack and allow location access, or search for your suburb. The map shows all nearby stations with live prices. Stations are sorted by price so the cheapest option is always highlighted in green.

Where does the price data come from?

All prices come from official Australian government fuel price monitoring schemes. NSW, TAS, and ACT prices come from NSW FuelCheck, QLD from the Fuel Prices Queensland scheme, VIC from the Victorian Fuel Price API, SA from the SA Fuel Pricing Information Scheme, and WA from FuelWatch.

Is FuelTrack free to use?

Yes, FuelTrack is completely free. There are no accounts, no subscriptions, and no ads.

What states and territories are covered?

FuelTrack covers 7 states and territories with mandatory fuel price reporting: New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, and the Australian Capital Territory. That's 8,915 stations tracked in total.

Should I fill up today or wait?

Australia’s temporary fuel excise cut ends on 30 June 2026. From 1 July the excise returns to its full rate and pump prices are expected to rise by around 28 cents per litre – roughly $14 on a 50-litre tank – unless retailers absorb part of the increase. Fuel prices vary day to day based on weekly cycles. FuelTrack tracks day-of-week patterns for every suburb, so you can see which days tend to have the lowest prices in your area.

Can I use FuelTrack on my phone?

Yes. FuelTrack is a progressive web app that works on any device with a browser. You can add it to your home screen on iOS or Android for an app-like experience with no download required.
